Re-feed Days

When a craving doesn’t come from hunger, eating will never satisfy it.” – Michelle May, M.D.

If you’re looking for top aesthetic appeal—to get as lean and “ripped” as possible—carb refeeds (not cheat days!) can help you melt off that last layer of stubborn fat and boost your metabolism.
Have you ever been a few weeks or months into a low-carb or high-deficit diet and hit a wall? Cravings, mood swings and the inability to feel full are common symptoms of low levels of the hormone Leptin. A leptin reset could be just the thing to get you back on track for diet success and lose that last bit of body fat!

Leptin is known as the “starvation” or “satiety” hormone, and it’s responsible for regulating your appetite and energy expenditure. When you are dieting, your leptin levels are typically lower, which can affect your energy, hunger level, immune system and mood. A carb refeed breaks the cycle. The sudden increase in carbohydrate intake results in a boost in leptin
These occasional leptin surges keep your metabolism from adapting too much to a continuous low carbohydrate intake. You end up with more energy, weight loss, and fewer cravings for unhealthy foods, an increase in serotonin levels, and strength increases too!
A refeed day looks different for everyone depending on where your macros are set, but generally it looks something like:
Doubling or tripling your normal carb intake
Drastically reducing fat intake to keep calories constant
Lowering your Protein slightly
